Photoshoot Workflow
Privacy and discretion are of utmost importance within The Construct…
Building a candid and trustworthy rapport, and safeguarding your privacy, are the cornerstones of my various workflows. Not only is it important to aesthetically chronicle your scene, but it’s also imperative to safeguard your images and prevent unauthorized viewing.
Only photosets where consent has been negotiated will ever appear publicly within The Reify Joie Construct.
Introduction
A pleasure to meet you!
I prefer to schedule an in-person meet-and-greet with prospective collaborators and clients before pulling out the camera. This could be weeks in advance over coffee, a hallway conversation at the beginning of a con week, or day-of during a munch or play party before your scene commences.
Concept
What are you seeking to accomplish?
The meet-and-greet will allow us to build a rapport and conceptualize your desired final images. Light and airy, dark and moody, or vivid and punchy? Silly and aloof, sexy and sensual, or pensive and provocative? Outdoors in nature, intimate at home, or at a fancy hotel or BDSM dungeon?
Logistics
Who is responsible for what?
Each photoshoot is different. It’s critical to finalize a schedule, source a location or venue, and arrange for hair, makeup, props, and wardrobe. Just as important is to agree on who is financially and physically responsible for each aspect of the photoshoot. There should be no surprises!
Negotiation
What is permitted in front of the lens?
I negotiate photoshoots just like any other BDSM scene…complete with safewords. This guarantees solid ground rules, determines what physical actions are allowed during the photoshoot, and how intimate, insidious, or innocent the final processed images turn out.
AUDIENCE
WHO IS THE INTENDED AUDIENCE?
This absolutely needs to be determined before the start of the photoshoot. Whether the images are intended as a private gift for a partner, or intended to be posted publicly within The Reify Joie Construct portfolio, will determine how the images are processed and delivered.
Contract
Good faith in writing…
Every photoshoot calls for either a legally-binding model release or a more casual good faith agreement. This contract or agreement will clearly lay out, in writing, aspects of the logistics, consent, negotiation, and publication — so there are no surprises.
Secure Delivery
Geeky things like encryption!
A digital contact sheet of all final images will be password-protected and made available on a Web site, protected in transit by strong encryption. ZIP archives containing full-resolution JPEGs will then be linked from the contact sheet using ultra-long, unguessable URLs that automatically expire.
